Growing Up Iowan, But in a Majority- Mexican town

As a teenager Chuy Renteria found his calling in break-dancing. It gave him joy and refuge from the tensions and violence he also found in his small Iowa town. His memoir, We Heard It When We Were Young, is a powerful reminder that immigrant integration in a small town is not only about the immigrants themselves, but also about the experiences of the next generation.
